ARCC Zwift Winter Virtual Group Rides

Commencing mid
November, there will be an ARCC organised Zwift ride every week until the end of February. These rides all start at 08:55am and can be found via the Zwift companion app as official public registered events.

These rides are open to all Zwift subscribers, not just ARCC club members as per Zwift policy, but we have set up an ARCC league table based on the results in Zwiftpower just for ARCC members. The ARCC league table can be found here.

  • The ride will start at 8:55am sharp. Remember to start Zwifting early to warm up and have time to download any updates or fix your WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity issues.
  • Please select the green Basic2 kit from the Zwift jerseys available in the garage so we get a solid ARCC green blob together.
  • Group laps will be led at a steady pace of around 2w/kg. The ride leader will try to keep all riders together during the event leveraging The Fence function and on-screen messages. Riders must start behind the ride leader at the start of the race lap(s) to score in the ARCC league.
  • Riders will not be eliminated by The Fence, but can be disqualified (DQ’d) from the Zwiftpower results for not following the ride leader instructions.
  • Riders need to be registered on zwiftpower.com and have valid HR data to be placed in the race lap and score in the ARCC league table.
  • Please add ‘ARCC’ after your name both in your Zwift userid and on Zwiftpower otherwise you may be missed in the club leaderboard compilation
  • Also join the Amersham club in zwiftpower
  • Remember by all means be competitive, but this is only a bit of fun, so above all enjoy yourself.

ARCC League Scoring

Participating ARCC riders will be split into two divisions based on the Zwiftpower categories. Division 1 will be for Cat A and B riders; Division 2 will be for Cat C and D riders.

Handcycles may be used, but points will only be awarded if you are using a physical handcycle, proof will be required. (Not a bicycle trainer of any sort)

Division points structure

Everyone starts with 1 point and then is awarded 1 point for every rider you beat in your division. If there are 25 ARCC riders, 10 in Division 1 and 15 in Division 2 the first placed rider in Division 1 will get 10 points, 9 for 2nd and 8 for 3rd etc. In Division 2 the first placed rider will get 15 points, 14 for 2nd, 13 for 3rd etc. Hence the points are roughly proportional to the size of the field raced against (if not the quality).

Sprinting Green Jersey points will be awarded on the basis of each riders fastest time in the designated sprint section, so in a 5 lap event you can try and beat your time in each sprint or put everything you have into one sprint and roll through the other 4 times.

We will track overall times for a yellow jersey competition, and for any event you don’t ride in you will be given the same time as the last person in your division.
