Amersham Road cycling Club was established in 2006 by a group of local riders to cater for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Despite our name we are based in Great Missenden, in the heart of the Chilterns, where we do the majority of our riding.
We have a thriving membership of over 250 members ranging in age from 18-80 with over 22% being women. Members come from across the Chiltern region and beyond, travelling to us from Windsor, London, Aylesbury and Uxbridge.

Who was Justin O’Neil?
Our incredible club was founded back in 2006 by a small group of local riders who wanted to build something special — a place where cyclists of all ages and abilities could ride, race, and belong.
One of those founder members was Justin O’Neil.
Justin was a huge part of ARCC from the very beginning. His enthusiasm, humour, and kindness helped shape the club we all love today. Whether leading a group ride or supporting club events, Justin had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
In January 2019, Justin was tragically killed while riding his bike in Amersham.
Since then, we’ve made sure that his memory remains at the heart of our club. The Justin Memorial 100 is one of the ways we celebrate him – a day to ride together, look out for one another, and enjoy the kind of big day out on the bike that Justin loved so much.
After his passing, Justin’s family were supported by Brake, the road safety charity. Brake helps families who face the unimaginable loss of a loved one on the roads. Each year, we invite riders to make a voluntary donation to Brake as part of the ride, so they can continue offering this vital support when it’s needed most.
And if you look closely at your club kit, you’ll spot Justin’s memory there too. Amongst the red, white and blue, you’ll find a few maroon triangles – a subtle nod to his beloved football team, Hearts of Midlothian.
Whether you knew Justin or not, this ride is about community, kindness, and celebrating the joy of cycling together – just as he would have wanted.
