WLC Time Trials

These are for members of all cycling clubs in the West London area.  They are held on one of two courses:  Maidenhead (10 miles) or Great Missenden (10, 25 and 50 miles).

Riders don’t need a special bike (drop handlebars perfectly adequate for most) although some of the more serious riders eventually invest in a purpose-built time trial bike.

A local hall is used as HQ where riders need to sign on and collect their number which they pin to their clothing (lower back).  Riders warm up and are then set off at 1-minute intervals and the idea is to try and beat their previous best time, ie it is not a race.  Afterwards, refreshments are served at HQ where riders return their race number to the organiser and where the official finish times are displayed.

As with all CTT-sanctioned events from 2020 onwards, a functioning rear light is compulsory, and riders will not be allowed to start without one.

Entry fees are currently paid by ARCC.

Registration to take part in any of the WLC TTs will be via the online register Spond. If you HERE on the following link you will be able to register.

Not another app!

For some, I know this process of downloading & using Spond to enter the WLC TTs for free (it’s not needed for ARCC TTs) will be annoying & you’ll wish you could just Email your entry over. I completely sympathise with this but WLC like ARCC is run entirely by volunteers giving something back to the wider cycling community. Spond makes communicating with riders who have signed up & generating start/result sheets much easier. Registration can feel like a faff but once done entering the individual TTs is really easy. Obviously, if you have any questions/issues or are unwilling/unable to use Spond but would still like to enter WLC TTs please contact me at timetrials@amershamrcc.com

You will then be asked the following questions, these are a requirement from Cycling Time Trials (CTT) and are needed by the Race Director for start sheets & results. Some questions may be doubled up (a glitch) if this is the case you only need to fill in the mandatory fields.

  • Birth date
  • ICE Name
  • ICE Number
  • Medical conditions
  • Medication
  • Will you be using TT bars on a road bike
  • TT or Road Bike
  • Club

YOU DO NOT NEED A TT BIKE – Road bikes are absolutely fine!

  • Entry to the race is free for all paid-up members and the cost is covered by ARCC.
  • Entry/registration can only be done in advance via Spond, as detailed above:
  • You will be issued race numbers which you should return please – free Tea or Coffee when you return your bib!
  • Remember that you must have a working, operational & visible front & rear light: NO LIGHTS, NO RIDE.
  • A start list will be emailed out a couple of days prior to the event.
  • Get there with plenty of time to register & have a good warm-up
