Club Update – 27th June 2025

Welcome to the June Broadcast. Fantastic weather in May and June has forced even the laziest cyclist in us to come out and acquire razor sharp suntan even the pro cyclists could envy. Tour de France is upon us yet again, starting on 5th July and expecting another spectacle between Pogačan and Vingegard with Van Aert, Evenepoel, Van Der Poel, Yates brother spicing it all up. Much better way to spend time infront of a telly to enjoy watching the battle of pure skill, stamina and sheer will to win than anything else currently occupying that valuable free time we often struggle to find. Go Tour!

SAMARITAN RIDE – OUR OWN SPECTACLE STARTS TOMORROW

The Samaritans Ride takes place tomorrow (28 June)! To help groups organise themselves we have set up a Samaritans Ride WhatsApp group within the ARCC Community – please join the group if you are planing to ride. Would those organising groups also post details ,so that other ARCC members may join. Please wear ARCC kit on the ride – we are one of the Samaritans main supporters and many of our members help with setting up, marshalling etc. Most of all ,enjoy the ride.

ARCC PEALLA RIDE ON 6TH JULY – BUY YOUR TICKETS

Are you ready for another social ride mixed with gourmet dining event this year. There is a Choice of Chicken or Vegetarian Paella (which is also Vegan & GF) Desserts & soft drinks included. Bring your own drinks if you wish for something punchier than soft drinks! Indoor & outdoor space available to suit weather on the day. No outdoor seating so rugs suggested. Toilet facilities at venue. Same as last year we have kept the tickets to £10 with club sponsoring the rest including drinks and deserts. Friends and Family are more than welcome to share the Paella with us.

ISLE OF WIGHT MOVED TO 12 JULY

Don’t forget the Isle of Wight ride was moved to 12th of July to spare everybody from soaking rain. Check you calendars and make sure you book the ferry and the car park in time. Meet in Lymington ferry terminal, ferry to Yarmouth (circa 9am), pedal around the island but make sure its your day, plan to ride to soak up the sites, the super smooth tarmac and that all important ice cream, take pics (we want to see the best ones!) choose where you and your group want to stop, experience the Military Road and all its white cliff rolling glory then catch any ferry back whenever you like !

This year there will be 3 routes to choose from.

CHARITY MENTION

Introducing another nice charity for those willing to support a good cause helping Thames Valley Air Ambulance Sportive is on 19th July.

This is not ARCC affiliated but nevertheless a genuinely good one to explore for those who need another challenge to add to their list of palamares this year including 50k, 100k and 140k as well as Off Road adventure.
